Establishment of a Mutant Library of Fragaria nilgerrensis Schlechtendal ex J. Gay via EMS Mutagenesis

The diploid wild strawberry Fragaria nilgerrensis Schlechtendal ex J. Gay mainly distributed in Southwest China has many excellent traits and a small genome. A high-quality genome of F. is available, but functional genomic research remains scarce. In the present study, to promote nilgerrensis, ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) was used mutagenize apical meristems, appropriate EMS mutagenesis dosages were screened. After treatment 1200 meristems with 0.6% for 6 h, mutant library consisting 86 individuals, which characterized by 17 types, mutation rate 7.17% established. characteristics mutants included changes color, shape, number size leaves, architecture flower plant. obtained identified morphological appearance, botanical indexes, chlorophyll, photosynthetic fluorescence assays, root-tip chromosome, flow cytometry observation. These can provide great resources gene future breeding nilgerrensis.
